What is the DYNAMIC BALANCE YOGA THERAPY approach?
Many of us deal with odd "niggles" that come and go repeatedly, or have some kind of recurring pain that isn't readily diagnosable or addressed to your satisfaction by going through the American healthcare system and health insurance route. You may wonder if that discomfort you have could be resolved simply by way of some non-invasive, "DIY" approach. Maybe you do have a diagnosis, but feel that there's more you can do to improve your recovery.
If you're the kind of person who's highly motivated when it comes to your self-care, you may like how I can help you troubleshoot and tackle the mystery of your pain problem.
I like to see myself as the person who can help you with a "problem" before it really becomes a problem. I focus on what preventative measures you can take and can help you uncover any unconscious, inadvertent breathing and movement tendencies you have that may be contributing to your pain.
What's involved in the troubleshooting process?
Prior to us meeting, I will be calling you and conducting an interview that helps me get an initial sense of what your pain problem is and who you are as a person. After the intake, I'll reflect on some candidate movement pieces that will make the best use of our time and that will likely produce a salutary effect for you in the direction of pain reduction.
When we meet, you'll try out these candidates. A significant amount of time will be spent on my examination and assessment of how you move with your breath. We'll extract and build a simple breath and movement routine consisting of the pieces that you like and see yourself doing on a consistent basis. Many clients are surprised to discover that we can create something that drops neatly into their busy schedule.
How often will we meet to see if the therapy is working?
You'll try out your new routine on your own for about a week and then we'll check in again to make sure that we are heading in the right direction. The idea in any following sessions is to calibrate and optimize your routine in order to reduce the incidence and occurrence of your pain problem, perhaps even make it a thing of the past!
